JOB OVERVIEW:
TheCivil/Mining Engineeris a critical contributor to Clyde Companies hard rock sand and gravel mining operations. This positionis responsible fordesigning efficientmining/reclamationandextraction plans ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations and advancing sustainable resource management strategies to meet production goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mining/Reclamation:
Develop update andmaintaindetailed mining and reclamation plans tooptimizeresource extraction while adhering to regulatory and operational standards.
Monitor operational compliance with approved mining plans andpermitconditions.
Plan and execute reclamation activities to restore mined areas to a sustainable and environmentally sound state.
Conduct site visits to evaluate mining and reclamation activities ensuring adherence to plans (slopes setbacks boundaries sequence etc.) and compliance with environmental standards.
Perform volumetric reserve estimations resource modeling and comprehensive reserve calculations.
Calculate mining/reclamationsurety bonds.
Participate in state regulator site inspections for industry compliance.
Conduct property due diligence including the evaluation of mining and reclamation plans ensuring compliance with current approved plans.
Prepareandsubmitannual environmental reportsincluding:
Large Mine Progress Reports Small Mine Progress Reports Limited Mine Progress Reports and Minerals Reclamation Permit Reports.
Training and Coordination:
Provide on-site mining and reclamation compliance training.
Support annual group training sessions and preparation of training content.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mining plans with other operations.
Train team members on mining plans operational standards and compliance requirements.
Acta liaison between regulatory agencies and ClydeCompaniessubsidiaries.
Land Use/Conditional Use Permits (CUP):
Manageland use/conditional usepermitting and review on-siteland use/conditional use permits conducting annual evaluations.
Ensure compliance with zoning laws and regulations including conditional use permits.
Conduct property due diligence evaluating land use/zoning and conditional use permit requirements.
CoordinatepropertyALTA Surveys.
Water Rights:
Manage waterrightapplications water usage monitoring andwater rightreporting.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
In-depth knowledge of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA). Understanding of SMCRAs provisions regulatory standards for surface mining operations in navigating the Code of Federal Regulations (30 CFR Parts 700-999) and ensuring compliance with performance bonds permit applications and environmental protection standards.
Proficient in state-specific mining regulations andpermittingprocesses within the Intermountain West including Utah Idaho Wyoming Colorado Nevada and Arizona.
Strongunderstandingof mining operations resource planning and permitting requirements.
CompetentwithAutoCADsoftwarePropeller or other mining-related tools.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation and data.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills for collaboration with teams and regulatory agencies.
Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills for effective plan development.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree inMining/CivilEngineering Geology Environmental Science ora relatedfield.
4-10years of experience in mine planning permitting or remediation.
Proficientwith environmental monitoring technologies data analysis and regulatory frameworks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform office tasks and manage field inspections.
10%travelrequiredfor site assessments and data collection.
