The Manufacturing Engineering Intern plays a critical role in supporting the engineers to optimize and improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency cost-effectiveness quality and safety. This individual will be responsible for designing developing implementing and maintaining manufacturing tools gauges and equipment. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement reduce waste and enhance overall production performance.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Design develop and implement new manufacturing processes equipment and tooling.
  • Optimize existing manufacturing processes for efficiency throughput quality and cost reduction.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation including work instructions process flow diagrams and control plans.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles (e.g. 5S Kaizen Value Stream Mapping).
  • Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis for production issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Drive efforts to reduce scrap rework and waste.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement permanent solutions.
  • Collaborate with Production to support daily operations resolve technical issues and provide training.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.

Qualifications :

Please note that to be eligible for this role you must be an undergraduate student seeking a placement year as part of your degree - if you do not meet these criteria please consider applying for other positions.

Our ideal candidate must have:

Be an undergraduate student (studying an Engineering focused degree) with a desire to complete a 12-month work placement as part of degree studies.

Our ideal candidate should have:

  • Be a capable 3D CAD user ideally NX and able to interpret & create technical drawings
  • Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Has the ability to adapt quickly to changing working environments and is ready to embrace new ways of working through digitalisation
  • Has the confidence to challenge and create new ideas.
  • Has the capability to work well in a team as well as independently using own initiative.
  • Has a quality mind-set with high attention to detail.
  • Can communicate confidently with people at all levels both written and verbal (including on the telephone).
  • IT literate and confident in using MS Office packages as well as learning Company systems.

Working Hours:

  • 39 hours per week standard working pattern of 08:00 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 16:00 Friday with a 1-hour lunchbreak
