The Analytical Chemistry Operations Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of two early-stage discovery laboratories. This position supports scientists by maintaining instrumentation managing inventory and optimizing lab workflowsallowing researchers to focus on breakthrough discoveries.
Key Responsibilities
Instrumentation Support & Maintenance
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for analytical instruments including HPLC/UPLC FPLC/AKTA Biotage/Isco systems oligonucleotide synthesizers and balances.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform hands-on maintenance and calibration.
- Prepare buffers eluents and mobile phases for purification systems.
- Maintain detailed service records and instrument logs.
Hazardous Waste & Safety Compliance
- Serve as Safety Representative for both labs ensuring compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and manage chemical storage in accordance with MAQs.
- Oversee proper labeling segregation and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Maintain documentation and training records related to hazardous materials handling.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Manage inventory systems for reagents chemicals and consumables.
- Implement sample tracking and ordering systems.
- Make independent purchasing decisions for routine supplies.
- Receive and organize incoming shipments and chemicals.
Process Optimization
- Identify and implement improvements to reduce downtime and increase efficiency.
- Develop protocols for inventory and sample management.
- Recommend infrastructure upgrades and workflow enhancements.
Qualifications :
Required:
- Bachelors degree in a scientific field with 34 years of relevant lab experience.
- Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry instrumentation especially chromatography and synthesis platforms.
- Proficiency in inventory/procurement systems (e.g. SAP Ariba Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of lab safety and operations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems proactively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with oligonucleotide synthesizers or automated synthesis platforms.
- Certification or demonstrated experience in hazardous waste handling and disposal.
- Background in synthetic chemistry environments.
- Experience implementing inventory systems and troubleshooting instruments.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship.

Additional Details:
This is a full-time onsite position based on a first-shift schedule (Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm) with overtime required as needed. Candidates located within a commutable distance to Boston Massachusetts are strongly encouraged to apply.
