Job Focus Area
The Education Consultant 4 position located within the Louisiana Department of Educations Office of Early Childhood-Strategy division is a critical high-impact role dedicated to improving kindergarten readiness for students with disabilities. This unique opportunity requires deep expertise in IDEA 619B policies making the incumbent the states lead strategist for children with disabilities. Key competencies for success include strategic program design the ability to manage the statewide early childhood assessment platform and related data reporting (including OSEP monitoring) and strong communication skills for mass outreach to families and school systems. This role is essential to the agencys mission as it combines new responsibilities with a focused strategic mission to ensure effective instructional practices timely transition from Part C to Part B services and accurate identification for Louisianas youngest diverse learners.
Applicants with the following experience are encouraged to apply:
- Proven in-depth and current knowledge of all laws policies and regulations pertaining to IDEA 619B. This includes familiarity with OSEP monitoring and reporting requirements.
- Specific experience working collaboratively with multiple state agencies and school system staff to develop structures and processes to improve the timeliness and effectiveness of transition from IDEA Part C to Part B services.
- Advanced skill in developing and distributing mass communications and advisories to families community networks and school systems to ensure clarity and transparency regarding early childhood policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Eight years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
A bachelors degree plus five years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education teaching or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:- Collaborate with early childhood special education policy and academic staff (e.g. Division of Diverse Learner Supports ) to design and implement strategies for improving outcomes for children with disabilities.
- Develop structures to support a full continuum of high-quality early childhood special education services.
- Focus on promoting evidence-based inclusive practices across early childhood settings.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type:Probational Promotional or Job Appointment.The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate (SER) of $31.25 hourly $2500 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and notthe maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
