Job Summary

Were seeking someone to join our team as a Business Manager (BM) in the Technology Finance Business Management team to support Institutional Securities Tech (IST) Super Department(s). The IST division is responsible for application development and support for Morgan Stanley trading systems and infrastructure.

In the Finance division we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management review analysis and advisory services of the Firms financial and capital resources. This is a Director level position within the Business Management Job Family which performs business management/CAO functions including headcount management financials people processes executive communications strategic support divisional governance regulatory support etc. Includes regional location and department management and oversight.

The BM will support senior stakeholders within the Super Departments including; Chief of Staff Super Department Heads Application Owners and Project Managers. The BM will work with other groups outside of IST and FRPPE including; HR Sourcing Tech COO and assist in decision making for the stakeholders. Implement standard reporting and regular communication with their assigned Super Department(s) highlighting various Financial and Resource metrics. The BM will meet regularly with their stakeholders to review these metrics and implement controls around resourcing and budgeting where necessary.

What youll do in the role:

  • Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm

  • Responsible for and lead a significant set of deliverables leveraging advanced understanding of Finance functional area product and/or client segment

  • Proactively identify emerging risks in individual and department work and contribute to strategies for mitigating them

  • Act as a role model and culture carrier; Embody and set an example of the Firms values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards

  • Annual Budgeting

  • Monthly Financial Projections

  • Capital Budgeting and Vendor Expense Management

  • Allocation Governance

  • Workforce Strategy (Location and Resource mix)

  • Contingent Resource Management

  • Other Ad Hoc Reporting as required by Super Department stakeholders


What youll bring to the role:

  • Advanced understanding of Finance functional area product and/or client segment and technical skills as well as of industry and competitive environment

  • Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and acknowledge efforts of team members

  • Ability to articulate risk and impact to various audiences and create plans to mitigate those risks

  • At least 6 years of experience and a Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Economics or related field

  • Solid understanding of financial statements and corporate finance principles

  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams (Technology Finance Fixed Income Division)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite with special focus on Excel (Excel Outlook PowerPoint)

  • Experience in building data models and performing variance analysis

  • Analysis and interpretation skills of large datasets

  • Optional: Experience with BI tools (Power BI Tableau) and familiarity with database query languages
