JOB SUMMARY
Serve as a puppeteer for The Parent Child Center of Tulsas Kids on the Block (KOB) program. As a part of the agencys Youth Programs department this position utilizes opportunities to provide support and education about all Youth Programs in the community.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with the Youth Program Manager and KOB Lead Educator to deliver Kids on the Block puppet shows to elementary age students.
- Maintains fidelity through precise memorization of ALL Kids on the Block scripts.
- Practices lines and manipulation of puppets as necessary to become proficient at performing for groups and handling puppets.
- Receives feedback and direction regarding puppetry style and program implementation from Youth Programs Manager.
- Performs puppet shows in teams of two in schools or at other community venues. Provides Kids on the Block program in virtual space as needed.
- Assists in Kids on the Block stage set up and stage tear down.
- Represents PCCT by participating in community fairs conference workshops and marketing meetings when applicable.
- Supports Youth Programs and other agency initiatives when necessary.
- Continues to enhance professional skills and knowledge through workshops and in-service trainings.
- Attends department staff meetings agency staff meetings individual supervision and all agency events.
- Consistently follows all agency policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates the agencys values of compassion respect learning adaptability and achievement.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- One year of prior experience working with children (4 to 12 years of age).
- Must have a valid drivers license ability to safely and reliably drive to and from performances.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to hold puppets at required position for extended periods of time.
- Availability during regular business hours weekends and evenings when necessary.
- Excellent oral communication and active listening skills.
- Excellent ability to establish rapport with both professionals and children.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience performing with puppets.
- Bilingual Spanish/English
WORK SCHEDULE
30 hours a week Monday - Friday during regular business hours.
