The Logistics Manager oversees the strategic and operational logistics functions across multiple warehouse locations in North America for NWS. This role ensures timely cost-effective and compliant movement of goods while optimizing warehouse operations transportation networks and cross-border logistics utilizing a potential combination of in-house support and third-party logistics and managed transportation service providers. The manager leads a team responsible for freight coordination inventory flow and performance metrics and collaborates with internal departments and external partners to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop implement and manage the companys logistics services framework methodology and best practices.
Align logistics processes with business objectives and strategic growth initiatives.
Provide leadership and training to direct reports and cross-functional teams to ensure streamlined operations and cost efficiency while maintaining operational and logistics metrics.
Implementation of green practices (e.g. carbon-efficient transportation reducing waste).
Logistics and Transportation
Plan and manage inbound and outbound freight across North America.
Select and negotiate with carriers and 3PLs for optimal cost and service.
Monitor delivery performance and freight cost ratios (e.g. freight cost vs. order value).
Warehouse Operations Support
Coordinate with warehouse managers to ensure efficient receiving and shipping.
Standardize operational procedures across sites.
Enforce safety hygiene and regulatory compliance standards.
Inventory and Systems
Collaborate with inventory control teams to maintain accuracy and reduce shrinkage.
Support ERP/WMS integration and reporting.
Share cross-department metrics for transparency and performance tracking.
Cross Border Compliance
Ensure logistics operations comply with North American customs and trade regulations.
Manage documentation and risk mitigation for international shipments.
Leadership and Collaboration
Lead logistics team development aligned with company values.
Foster partnerships with suppliers carriers and internal stakeholders.
Provide proactive updates to customers and internal teams on delivery status.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Logistics Supply Chain or Business or 5 years of experience in logistics management preferably across multiple sites or countries.
Strong knowledge of TMS WMS and ERP systems (e.g. SAP GP SalesPad Panatracker).
Familiarity with North American trade regulations.
Certifications such as CPIM CSCP or Lean Six Sigma are preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Ability to design and implement logistics strategies aligned with business goals.
Experience with network optimization cost reduction and scalability planning.
Deep understanding of freight modes (road rail sea air) and carrier negotiations.
Knowledge of North American customs regulations.
Experience managing international shipments and trade documentation.
