The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work Policy and Practice invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Full Professor. We seek a nationally recognized scholar whose research focuses on K12 education in urban communities with particular attention to the social economic cultural and political contexts that shape educational systems experiences and outcomes.
We are especially interested in candidates whose work engages rigorously with education policy and practice advances theoretical and empirical understandings of disparities in educational opportunity and outcomes and informs interventions or reforms that strengthen the quality and effectiveness of schooling.
The successful candidate will have:
- An established and influential record of scientifically rigorous externally funded peer-reviewed research;
- A portfolio of scholarship that advances knowledge in education in urban settings and speaks to broader social policy concerns;
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship particularly at the graduate level;
- A history of professional service and leadership in the field;
- A commitment to advancing the mission of the Crown Family School through research teaching and engagement with policy and practice communities.
The Crown Family School builds upon a legacy of more than a century of scholarship education and leadership in social work and social welfare blending a distinctive interdisciplinary tradition with applied problem solving to foster innovative solutions to some of societys most pressing social problems. The School is home to the Kersten Institute for Urban Education a university-wide center dedicated to applied education research intervention innovation and engagement in K12 settings.
