The OHSU Department of Psychiatry is part of the OHSU Brain Institute and focuses on providing excellent clinical treatment to our patients leading innovative research and offering hands-on training for the next generation of psychiatrists. The Clinical Social Worker as a key member of the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry provides comprehensive psychosocial services to children adolescents and their families. These services include biopsychosocial assessments individual and family counseling care coordination crisis intervention patient advocacy and referrals to appropriate community resources. The social worker collaborates with schools community agencies and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to care.
By practicing trauma-informed care principles the Clinical Social Worker prioritizes safety trustworthiness empowerment and collaboration in all aspects of service delivery.
As part of a multidisciplinary mental health team which includes psychiatrists psychologists and other clinical professionals the Clinical Social Worker delivers in-depth evidence-informed interventions tailored to the unique needs of each patient and family. The overarching goal is to enhance psychosocial well-being and strategic coordination of internal and external support systems.
In addition to scheduled services the Clinical Social Worker will provide timely as-needed interventions for patients and families experiencing acute emotional distress or behavioral challenges. This position requires strong clinical judgment cultural humility and the ability to navigate complex systems of care with sensitivity and compassion.
