Our client is based in Midrand. They are currently seeking the services of a IT Desktop support Technician.
Role overview
The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance of end-user computing environments ensuring reliable and efficient operation of all workstations peripherals and user applications. The role requires a hands-on professional with strong troubleshooting skills excellent customer service and a solid understanding of Windows and networked office environments.

The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance of end-user computing environments ensuring reliable and efficient operation of all workstations peripherals and user applications. The role requires a hands-on professional with strong troubleshooting skills excellent customer service and a solid understanding of Windows and networked office environments.

- Support and maintain video conferencing equipment
- Provide support for VoIP phones and assist with user configuration or network setup
Key Responsibilities
End-User Support
- Provide support for all desktop laptop and peripheral problems
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software incident efficiently and effectively
- Install configure and maintain end-user systems printers and associated software
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding processes including device preparation and data management
- Support Office 365 suite (Outlook Teams SharePoint OneDrive etc.)
- Support network printing infrastructure
- Troubleshoot issues with productivity software and business applications
- Perform basic network troubleshooting (TCP/IP DNS DHCP VLANs etc)
- Work with Cisco switches for endpoint connectivity (Port configuration VLAN assignment link troubleshooting etc.)
- Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to resolve connectivity and performance issues
- Support and maintain video conferencing equipment
- Provide support for VoIP phones and assist with user configuration or network setup
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents asset inventory and technical procedures
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT processes support guides and knowledge base
- Escalate unresolved issues to Back Office engineers or vendors as required and drive call resolution.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a desktop or IT support role
- Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11 administration and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting Office 365
- Familiarity of Active Directory and Group Policies
- Experience with network printing environments particularly Papercut
- Solid understanding of Cisco networking and endpoint connectivity
- Experience with video conferencing and VoIP technologies
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- CompTIA A Network Security and Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
- Experience with IT ticketing systems (HALO)
- Understanding of endpoint security encryption and data protection principles
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Customer focused and proactive approach to service delivery
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
- Good interpersonal skills
- Detail-orientated and disciplined
