Job Summary

Description

As a Global Logistics Specialist you will be responsible for generating statistics and graphs for reporting of customer service and quality control data review and financial tracking. You will work closely with Sales Operations and Packaging Departments the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT). Your responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating carrier and courier rates
  • Facilitating the delivery and arrival of patient specimens to Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL)
  • Tracking shipments to and from MCL
  • Recovery and expediting delayed shipments
  • Resource for sales and operations in designing and implementing international shipping solutions.
  • Resource for IATA DOT and international regulations
  • Resolve international shipments including customs clearance and intervention of distressed shipments
  • Ordering department and courier supplies
  • Designing and testing shipping containers and methods
  • Monitoring expenses audits vendor invoices

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and four years of transportation-related experience required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management Business or related business-discipline and two years of transportation-related experience is preferred.
  • At least five years of prior experience in business customer service human relations and/or accounting is preferred.
  • Must have skills in systems analysis planning and negotiating.
  • Experience with couriers or logistics systems is a plus.
  • Above average human relations customer service and communication skills are necessary to deal with clients couriers and vendors.
  • Must be self-motivated possess strong organizational and computer skills work independent of direct supervision and strive for excellence in serving our broad customer base.
  • Computer skills and working with databases also needed and Lawson experience is helpful.
  • Global Logistics Experience preferred.
