On behalf of our Tanzania based client we are looking for a competent and experienced Site Technician

Job Summary

Site Technician assists in the planning execution and maintenance of construction projects by providing technical support and ensuring work complies with safety standards and project specifications. They act as a crucial link between site management and the on-site team.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Execution Support: Prepare sites materials and tools for daily tasks. This can involve anything from operating light equipment to performing manual labor.

Setting Out and Surveying: Carry out setting out of works using total station or levels ensuring accuracy of positions and elevations in accordance with approved drawings.

Quality Control & Inspection: Conduct regular site inspections and perform quality assurance checks and material testing to ensure that all work meets established standards building codes and design specifications.

Technical Tasks & Repairs: Perform a wide range of skilled construction and maintenance tasks across various trades such as plumbing electrical carpentry and HVAC often using hand and power tools.

Measurement and Records: Take site measurements for completed works and assist in preparation of progress claims and as built records.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed project records including daily reports progress updates change orders material certifications and time sheets. They also help prepare budget estimates and cost tracking reports.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read understand and interpret blueprints schematics technical drawings and contract terms to ensure accurate project execution.

Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal and local safety regulations and environmental protection policies promoting a safe work environment and reporting incidents or unsafe conditions.

Coordination and Supervision: Collaborate with engineers project managers and suppliers. Senior technicians may also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and help supervise contractor teams.

Problem Solving: Address and solve on-site problems or design modifications as they arise during the construction process.

Requirements

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required with vocational or technical training in a construction-related trade preferred.

Experience: At least five years relevant experience in construction site supervision is necessary.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools precision measuring devices Competence in surveying equipment like total station GPS and level machines Familiarity with Quality Assurance Knowledge like concrete mix design rebar inspection and structural tolerances as well as basic proficiency in construction management software e.g AutoCAD ArchiCAD Excel and reporting softwares is often required.

Soft Skills: Strong communicationanalytical thinking attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a team are crucial for success in this role.

Physical Abilities: The role often requires physical stamina including the ability to lift heavy objects work at heights or in confined spaces and work outdoors in various weather conditions
