The City of Seattles Finance and Administrative Services Department (FAS) seeks an innovative collaborative and inclusive professional for the role ofAccounting and Budget Services Deputy Division Director.
In this influential role you will be a results-oriented leader responsible for FAS budget charges and related policies systems and financial support to the Citys small departments. Specific tasks include developing FAS annual budget and charges monitoring expenditures and revenues throughout the year and assessing options for improvements to financial policies and practices. The Deputy Director leads a Budget Policy and Team of eleven employees and serves as division director when needed.

FAS is often the publics first interaction with the City of Seattle operating as a customer-focused front door that assists with everything from paying utilities or reporting a pothole to requesting public information or even adopting a new pet.
The 500-plus employees of FAS span across 10 divisions and work behind-the-scenes providing critical functions like managing 120 City facilitiesincluding police and fire stationsoverseeing the Citys neighborhood customer service centers and Customer Service Bureau and making sure minority-owned businesses can equitably compete for City contracts. Under the guidance of the Accounting and Budget Services Division Director you will be responsible for four key areas:
Build and maintain a great team. Grow a culture that forges teamwork collaboration and accountability within the Budget Policy and Systems Team and the department. Lead direct mentor and coach staff as necessary. Develop and direct the Teams work plans and priorities.
Lead FAS budget and rate development. Lead the Budget Policy and Systems Team in developing FAS annual budget and rate proposals. Navigate through the departments multiple funding sources rates and charges budget needs and internal/external customer needs. For the right candidate this will be an exciting opportunity to support essential city services.
Excel in service delivery. Minimize customer effort required to interact with Budget Policy and Systems Team. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with leadership colleagues and internal and external customers. Ensure clear concise and transparent communications to various audiences.
Maintain and improve effectiveness and efficiency of budget processes and budget and capital project systems. In collaboration with the team develop options and recommendations to improve the nimbleness of FAS budget systems and processes. This includes supporting the budget and rate development system as well as the capital project management system.

Work Environment
This position requires a minimum of three days per week of onsite work. Alternative Work Arrangements and hybrid telework schedules for work conducted in a normal office environment may be considered and will be based on operational needs and consistency with City policies.
Additional Information:
This position is classified as a Manager 3 Exempt. The full salary range for this job classification is $59.75- $89.61 per hour. This position is FLSA exempt (not eligible for overtime).
