Job Summary:

The Moore Lab focuses on the intersection of coagulation fibrinolysis and inflammation in lung diseases and critical Illness with both basic science and translational research components. The Research Services Laboratory Professional will play a key role in foundational projects with real potential to impact future therapeutic development. The assistant will gain hands-on experience in both bench scienceperforming biochemical and functional assays of clotting and fibrinolysis pathwaysand translational research including the collection of biospecimens from patients and direct interaction with clinical collaborators.

Projects in the lab range from studying why fibrinolytic therapy fails in patients with pleural infections to characterizing fibrinolytic resistance in humans with sepsis to investigating how macrophage-derived factor XIII-A influences lung repair after injury using mince and advanced models like live-imaged of cell culture on decellularized lung scaffolds. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in research that spans from molecule to bedside in a supportive academic environment where your contributions will be instrumental in shaping the labs direction and impact within the university and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform experiments such as ELISA quantitative PCR microscopy fibrinolytic functional assays and Western blotting.

  • Handle laboratory animals (mice) including routine care and surgical or procedural manipulations.

  • Conduct sterile cell culture including primary cell and cell line maintenance.

  • Process tissue samples for downstream applications including imaging and histology.

  • Support development and troubleshooting of new experimental protocols.

  • Conduct basic quantitative and qualitative analysis of experimental data.

  • Screen and consent eligible patients for research studies under IRB-protocols and collect and process human biospecimens.

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field.

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field.

  • One (1) year of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy physiology and medical terminology.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $46274 $58861.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
