Job Summary
Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision
- Ensures proper maintenance and preventive maintenance is performed on all institutional security equipment (mechanical locks electrical locks cell door locks including maximum security component and door mechanisms).
- Checks maintains and repairs all security fire doors.
- Reviews/approves requisitions for supplies/equipment associated with the maintenance and repair of security equipment and prepares cost estimates for same.
- Initiates requisition for tools security keys/locks and materials for maintenance of security equipment.
- Maintains and controls spare parts for making emergency repairs.
- Serves in on-call status on rotating basis and is expected to take care of minor problems in other areas (plumbing heating/ventilation and air conditioning etc.).
- Directly supervises inmate workers.

- State ofSouth Carolina Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).A high school diploma and 5 years professional experience in institutional general maintenance construction and report.
