We are seeking a talented and passionate Demi Chef to join our culinary team in Jakarta Indonesia. As a Demi Chef you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of food quality and presentation while supporting the Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations.
- Assist the Chef de Partie in food preparation and service for assigned kitchen sections
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards ensuring consistency and quality
- Maintain proper food handling storage and sanitation practices in compliance with HACCP standards
- Support mise en place activities and ensure workstations are properly set up before service
- Monitor and control food stock and waste to ensure cost efficiency
- Verify the freshness quality and proper storage of ingredients
- Adhere to kitchen safety procedures and maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment
- Communicate effectively with team members and other kitchen sections to ensure smooth operations
- Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff when required
- Contribute to menu development and suggest improvements to existing dishes
- Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques to enhance the dining experience
Qualifications :
- 1-2 years of experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar culinary role
- Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution (preferred)
- Food safety certification (e.g. ServSafe)
- Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations cooking techniques and food hygiene standards
- Proficiency in knife skills and various cooking methods
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow professionally
- Basic understanding of menu planning and food cost control
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
- Familiarity with Indonesian cuisine and local ingredients (preferred)
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is a plus
