Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and passionate Demi Chef to join our culinary team in Jakarta Indonesia. As a Demi Chef you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of food quality and presentation while supporting the Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations.

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in food preparation and service for assigned kitchen sections
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards ensuring consistency and quality
  • Maintain proper food handling storage and sanitation practices in compliance with HACCP standards
  • Support mise en place activities and ensure workstations are properly set up before service
  • Monitor and control food stock and waste to ensure cost efficiency
  • Verify the freshness quality and proper storage of ingredients
  • Adhere to kitchen safety procedures and maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other kitchen sections to ensure smooth operations
  • Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff when required
  • Contribute to menu development and suggest improvements to existing dishes
  • Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques to enhance the dining experience

Qualifications :

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar culinary role
  • Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution (preferred)
  • Food safety certification (e.g. ServSafe)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations cooking techniques and food hygiene standards
  • Proficiency in knife skills and various cooking methods
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow professionally
  • Basic understanding of menu planning and food cost control
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Familiarity with Indonesian cuisine and local ingredients (preferred)
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is a plus
