PAY GRADE:Supplemental Salary Schedule
POSITION OBJECTIVE:Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
- Assists withorganizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
- Assists with assessesment of players skills and assigningteam positions.
- Assists with developinga regular practice schedule and organizingpractice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Coaches and instructs players individually or in groups regarding the rules regulations equipment and techniques of the sport.
- Observes players during competition and practice and reports to Head Coach the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Assists with determining game strategy based on the teams capabilities.
- Establishes and maintains standards ofstudent athletebehavior and provides proper supervision of athletes.
- Assists with monitoringthe academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athletes injury.
- Assists with conferencing with parents/guardians as necessary regarding the athletic performance of their student.
- Follows state regional and district regulations governing the athletic program.
- Models sportsmanlike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players officials and spectators.
- Follows established procedures for the proper care maintenance requisitioning of equipment supplies and uniforms.
- Participates in special activities to include parents night banquets award nights and pep assemblies.
- Assists with maintainingeligibility forms emergency information insurance records equipment inventory and other related records.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Potentially drive athletes using district transportation to and from off campus games on 14 passenger Activity Bus and provide proof of insurance as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by Head Coach or Athletic Director.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Prior coaching experiencepreferred
Must be at least 21 years of age.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate
NFHS First Aid Health and Safety Certificate/CPR (preferred)
NFHS Cheer and Dance Safety Certificate (applicable for Cheer Dance and Spiritline)

SKILLS:(position requirements at entry):
Ability to maintain effective relationships with students staff and community.
Knowledge of fundamental principles of the sport.
Ability to adhere to administrative policies and directives of the program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require reaching standing walking finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for Light Work.
