Job Overview:

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is seeking an analytics professional to be part of our LTSS Analytics Unit. The LTSS Analytics Unit assures the production of data needed to support the operations ongoing improvement and federal compliance of several home and community-based waiver (HCBS) programs state-plan home health services facility-based long-term care and various Medicaid programs operated on a day-to-day basis by other state agencies. As an LTSS Data Analytics Specialist your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a data management liaison with other areas of ODM sister state agencies local public entities contract entities and stakeholder groups.
  • Developing and implementing data production processes that have multiple steps and require timely actions by other staff.
  • Designing data queries for producing and reporting statistical and financial data (e.g. case management data demographics performance metrics service utilization and cost and utilization projections).
  • Extracting data from existing claims payment eligibility decision support and case management systems.
  • Interpreting administrative rules polices HCBS waiver applications and data requests to determine what data is needed for program operations or program evaluation.
  • Bringing your analytical expertise to bear on policy and program development to assure an adequate basis for quantifiable program measurements.
  • Developing and implementing surveys and other methods for evaluating Medicaid programs.

The preferred candidate will be experienced in producing analytical reports developing performance metrics participating in teams to produce analytical output in a group process and using multiple data analytics tools and decision support systems.

Travel required as needed. Must provide own transportation. Or in order to operate a state vehicle you must have a valid drivers license from state of residence.

Completion of undergraduate core coursework & 12 mos. one of following: health services administration mathematics statistics actuarial science public administration allied health sciences nursing economics public health or comparable field; 2 yrs. health services research &/or health policy analysis; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. research methodology measurement & testing analysis of variance & survey sampling; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. use of computer programs/applications with emphasis on relational data bases use of computer hardware software used for spreadsheets statistical analysis graphics presentation & word processing; 1 course or 3 mos. multiple regression or multivariate analysis.
