Position Summary:
A General Clerk III performs a wide range of administrative and clerical duties that require judgment and some subject-matter knowledge often including handling a variety of records preparing reports and assisting with administrative matters. This role may involve data entry document management and responding to inquiries as well as potentially directing lower-level clerks. Key responsibilities often include maintaining filing systems managing mail verifying information and compiling data while working independently within established procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize a wide variety of records both manually and electronically. This includes filing scanning and managing physical and digital documents according to established procedures and standards.
- Compile and verify data for accuracy input information into databases and generate reports.
- Assist with various administrative tasks such as copying mailing and ordering supplies.
- Handle and respond to inquiries from the public or internal staff via phone email or in person.
- Draft and prepare routine correspondence and reports.
- Receive sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail.
Experience Requirements:
- Requires at least 3-5 years of related clerical or administrative experience.
- Proficient in standard office software such as the Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel Outlook) and have experience with various computer hardware and software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary to interact with colleagues and the public.
- Must be well-organized with strong time management and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- The ability to work independently make judgments and problem-solve within established guidelines is essential.
- Must have an active DOD clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
