POSITION: Lunch Paraprofessional
SCHEDULE: 3 hrs/day Monday through Friday
LOCATION: Zinser Elementary
QUALIFICATIONS and DUTIES:
Supervise students in the lunchroom and surrounding areas to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
Assist students as needed (e.g. opening containers cleaning up spills finding seats).
Monitor student behavior and enforce lunchroom expectations in a positive and consistent manner.
Clean tables chairs and surrounding areas between lunch periods; dispose of waste and maintain a clean environment.
Communicate concerns about student behavior safety or health to appropriate staff.
Administer basic first aid as needed and seek assistance for injuries or emergencies.
Model respectful inclusive behavior and promote a welcoming environment for all students including those with special needs.
Collaborate with custodial kitchen and school staff to ensure smooth lunchroom operations.
Follow all district policies and safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with parents students and staff.
- Process paperwork or supervise recess if needed
- Experience working with Pre-K-12 students is preferred.
- Ability to function effectively and collaborate regularly as a member of a team.
- Excellent work attendance is required.
- Require minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Though it is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties responsibilities or requirements of all Parapro positions the general content of and requirements for the performance of a Paraprofessional are noted below:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 24 hours at a time).
Ability to bend kneel stoop squat and twist regularly throughout shift.
- The ability to lift students if needed in special needs assignments.
- Must be able to bend squat and sit on the floor in working with students.
Ability to reach overhead and lift items (such as trash bags or bins) weighing up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working in a noisy fast-paced environment. The noise level is generally moderate but can be high at times and temperatures are varied.
Visual and auditory ability to monitor large groups of children for safety.
Ability to tolerate temperature variations (e.g. from kitchen hallways or outdoor supervision areas).
Ability to move quickly in response to emergencies or student needs.
Note to New Employees:Pursuant to PA 131 the selected candidate must receive clearance from the Michigan State Police Department prior to employment. The candidate is responsible for the background check fee.
