MTSS Beahvior Specialist
Employment Term (days): 210
Pay Scale: Administration - Instructional 4
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for supplementing and supporting behavioral initiatives of the district; coaching supporting and guiding school-based staff in using evidence-based practices to provide positive behavior support for students with tier 3 behavioral needs; providing in-service training performing classroom observations providing feedback and demonstrating the implementation of student-specific tier 3 behavior interventions.
Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certifications:
Bachelors degree
Masters degree in administration education psychology social work counseling or related field (preferred) or work experience may be substituted for Masters degree if also currently enrolled in a counseling or social work program
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Experience:
Minimum of one year of successful teaching experience
Minimum of one year in an instructional leadership role
Counseling social work or administration experience (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of federal state and local requirements related to social emotional and behavioral needs
Knowledge of applied behavioral analysis behavioral principles and intervention strategies
Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies
Ability to evaluate instructional approaches and offer strategies to improve student learning
Proven ability to work with individuals and families struggling in the areas of social emotional and/or behavioral skills
Ability to provide group professional development and/or individual technical assistance
Ability to multi-task and provide behavior support at numerous sites
Ability to interpret policy procedures data and evaluate programs
Strong organizational communication public relations and interpersonal skills
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Programmatic supervision for: Student Support Aides Ready to Learn
Teachers & Paraprofessionals
