The Bowery Mission is a Christian faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness hunger and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative communities with men women children and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.
Reporting to the Director Childrens Program the Recruiter Childrens Program (Recruiter) is an integral part of the Childrens Program team supporting effective recruitment for Mont Lawn Summer Camp and City Camp. The Recruiter plans and presents at recruiting events works with Digital Marketing to manage digital recruiting and marketing content for Mont Lawn Camp supports camper transportation and manages data. The recruiter will regularly travel to recruiting events and to and from Mont Lawn Summer Camp from June through August.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support successful Mont Lawn Summer Camp and City Camp operations through recruitment of eligible campers.
- Serve as point person for effectively recruiting and enrolling targeted number of summer campers; prioritizing income eligible children and families across the five boroughs of New York City.
- Present camp offerings at recruitment engagements and events with churches partners schools community-based organizations etc.
- Leverage TBMs digital media platforms to market camps.
- As needed assist Director in recruiting seasonal Mont Lawn Summer Camp staff. Plan attend and present at seasonal staff recruitment events. Work to increase the percentage of returning seasonal Summer Camp staff year-over-year.
- Support team members coordinating camper transportation to and from Mont Lawn Summer Camp. Oversee bus safety procedures. Oversee seasonal staff interns and volunteers engaged in camper transportation support.
- Meet all internal and external recordkeeping requirements and standards. Ensure all data is promptly and accurately recorded.
- As needed oversee seasonal staff interns and volunteers working on administrative tasks at Summer Camp. On occasion provide coverage for City Camp classes.
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 10:00am-6:30pm
Requirements:
- Embraces the organizations Statement of Faith.
- 2 years assisting in childrens ministry non-profit recruiting or similar setting and supporting managers and specialists.
- Bachelor of Arts or equivalent work and education.
- Integration of best practices in childrens programming and Christian worldview. Best practices in recruitment. Professional boundaries.
- Confidentiality standards.
- Proficient in Office technology.
Preferred:
- Mental Health First Aid.
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention.
- CPR/First Aid.
Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $50000-$55000k annually.
