Job Summary

Position: Accounts Payable Accountant

Term: Full-time/12 Months

Classification: Classified/Non-exempt

Location: Administration Building

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
  • Business/accounting coursework preferred;
  • Accounts payable experience preferred;
  • Accounts payable software and Microsoft Excel experience preferred Data entry 10-key and
  • file maintenance skills preferred

  • Complies with privacy rights and safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students.
  • Reacts to change productively and receive and transmit constructive criticism as it relates to job duties.
  • Actively participate in professional development and obtain skills and information necessary to effectively perform job duties.
  • Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner utilizing district technology resources.
  • Arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors and attend all required meetings pertinent to the position.
  • Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and Board policy.
  • Solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed to complete job duties.
  • Read and interpret documents such as work orders safety rules and handbooks and apply to job duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Process daily check requests expense advances and reimbursements
  • Audit and process vendor invoices and statements for payment
  • Review receiving records and information
  • Issue purchase orders after review of documentation in compliance with purchasing policy
  • Audit payment requests for compliance with policies procedures and available budget
  • Prepare Board of Education Accounts Payable reports twice monthly
  • Communicate with vendors regarding outstanding balances credit limits payment options
  • Support and train District staff with purchase order entry purchasing questions and troubleshooting problems
  • Assist with annual audit by retrieving files and records as requested by auditors
  • Maintain physical and electronic vendor payment files
  • Retrieve sort and distribute mail for Finance Department
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance current knowledgebase and ensure current processes align with best practices and remain in compliance with policy and law
  • Crosstrain with departmental staff as needed
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.
