Job Overview
The Sr Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to achieve significant initial cost reductions while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels. Responsible for strategic category management supplier negotiations contracts and ongoing supplier management in designated areas. Coordinates with IT Accounting/Finance Engineering and Operations Insurance Risk Management Third Party Risk Management and Legal organizations to execute on business initiatives. This role works closely with key stakeholders primarily in the Field Services organization to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans. Primary responsibility is to utilize industry best practices to generate real savings while making effective supply base decisions with key stakeholders. This includes direct savings captured through consolidating company-wide purchasing volume and applying operational and commercial TCO levers to reduce cost and manage contracts with suppliers. This position will be responsible for a significant amount in annual spend and will manage and execute complex contracts with OEMs and large strategic partners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategically manages spend by utilizing a proven sourcing process that engages stakeholders and aligns to business objectives. Gains credibility and secures high-levels of internal stakeholders buy-in to strategic initiatives
  • Analyzes global Category or service market trends for assigned material/service purchases and communicate opportunities to management recommending action plans based on market trends and analysis
  • Develops and directs annual cost savings programs that directly affect company financials and growth plans and generate progressive year over year cost reductions
  • Leads supplier selection process qualification of alternative sources supply base rationalization programs and other relevant strategies to optimize the supply base
  • Active Supplier Relationship Management: Development and measurement of KPls supplier audits business reviews improvement plans new opportunities awards terminations etc. including savings tracking and ongoing communication to management and stakeholders
  • Performs proposal analysis including price analyses Should Cost modeling benchmarking etc. Develop cost targets for negotiations negotiation strategy and develop and negotiate agreements
  • Prepares and facilitates RFx (RFP RFI RFQ etc) projects for assigned categories

  • Acts as subject matter expert for assigned categories


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering (Required)
  • Masters/Advanced Degree (Preferred)
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience required
  • 5 year track record in a global procurement organization required
  • Experience within client services consultant areas a plus (preferred)
  • Sourcing Indirect spends categories (including MRO Professional & Engineering Services IT Travel Facilities and others) required.
  • 2-4 years Field Service Procurement or RAN Equipment Procurement experience preferred.

  • Advanced key procurement skills: Development / management of category strategies; RFP / RFI development contract negotiations strategic sourcing management of supplier relationship lifecycle understanding of risk mitigation principles and understanding of various cost evaluation methods (TCO ROI Payback Period etc.) (Required)

Overland Park KS Compensation Range: $121600 - $164600

Frisco TX Compensation Range: $129100 - $174700

Downers Grove IL Compensation Range: $134000 - $181400

Base Pay Range: $111700 - $201600

Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidates actual pay will be based on various factors such as work location qualifications and experience so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile employees in regular non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employees eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
