AECOM has an immediate opportunity available for a Senior Legal Counsel for employment in Panama City Panama or Colombia
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Latin America legal team. The selected individual will be responsible for providing strategic advice and comprehensive legal support to engineering construction and infrastructure projects across the region ensuring legal and contractual compliance in accordance with international standards and corporate policies.
This role requires a combination of strong legal judgment commercial acumen leadership and the ability to manage multiple disciplines and jurisdictions in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Advise on the structuring negotiation and execution of engineering construction and consulting contracts in various LATAM countries.
- Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks throughout the different project phases.
- Coordinate and oversee legal matters in collaboration with technical financial and project management teams.
- Manage external legal advisors and represent the companys interests before clients partners and local authorities.
- Ensure alignment with global policies and ethical and compliance standards.
- Draft and review contractual documentation in English Spanish and Portuguese.
- Actively participate in internal decision-making and legal approval processes.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Law degree with a valid license to practice in the country of residence with 6 YORE or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate commercial and/or contract law within the construction engineering or infrastructure sectors.
- Languages: Spanish English and Portuguese (fluency in all three spoken and written).
- International Experience: Preferably with companies headquartered or based in the United States familiar with U.S. corporate culture and compliance standards.
- Skills: Strong leadership and decision-making abilities Clear effective and strategic communication with multicultural teams High capacity to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities Excellent negotiation and legal drafting skills Proficiency in corporate IT and collaboration tools.
