Join us as an Assessment Worker and be part of something bigger.
As an Assessment Worker in Foster Care you will play a vital role in shaping the future of children and young people in South Australia. You will conduct competency and strengths-based assessments with prospective foster carers ensuring they are equipped to provide trauma-informed culturally responsive care. Your work will directly support families in understanding the assessment process and help to build their knowledge and capacity to meet the diverse needs of children in care.
Youll be part of a team committed to cultural safety and inclusion working closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) families. Your expertise will help ensure every childs identity safety and kinship connections are respected and nurtured.
This is a full-time ongoing position based at our Head Office in Hindmarsh with travel across Adelaide.
Youll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:
Conducting competency-based assessments using approved tools to evaluate foster care applicants
Supporting families to understand and navigate the assessment process with empathy & clarity
Ensuring cultural safety and responsiveness in all interactions
Collaborating with specialists to ensure best outcomes for children and young people
Recommending applications for approval or non-approval based on thorough trauma-informed evaluations
To thrive in this role you will have:
A tertiary qualification in Social Work
ACWA Step by Step Accreditation or the ability to meet accreditation requirements
Extensive knowledge of the Child Protection sector including relevant legislation and compliance frameworks & exceptional writing skills
Demonstrated experience conducting competency-based assessments
