The Department of Psychological Sciences at Rice University in partnership with the Center for African and African American Studies (CAAAS) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of associate or full professor to begin July 1 2026. The Center for African and African American Studies is Rices primary location for curriculum and research related to Africa and to people of African descent in the Americas and beyond. We are seeking applicants with broad research and teaching expertise that fit into CAAAS and Psychological addition to maintaining an active research agenda the successful candidate will teach three undergraduate and/or graduate courses each academic year. The Department of Psychological Sciences will serve as the tenure home and the role will involve shared teaching and service responsibilities with CAAAS.
The position requires a Ph.D. in a Psychology or a related field and job duties entail conducting a productive and exceptional research program with demonstrated ability to secure external funding teach undergraduate and graduate psychology and CAAAS courses mentor graduate and undergraduate students and provide service to the field the department and the university.
The Department of Psychological Sciences trains doctoral students in human factors / human-computer interaction (HF/HCI) cognitive and affective neuroscience health psychology industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology and psychometrics and quantitative the most recent rankings of the U.S. News and World Report (2022) our I-O psychology program was ranked #1. The Department also offers professional masters programs in both HF/HCI and I-O psychology.
