Background
The Real Time Gross Settlement service (RTGS) and CHAPS the wholesale payment service are key to the UKs 775 billion is settled each day across this critical national infrastructure.
In April 2025 we launched the renewed RTGS service enhancing resilience improving user functionality strengthening our end-to-end risk management creating wider interoperability and enabling greater access.
The success of the Renewal Programmes delivery approach set us up for our current ways of working. We have embedded a Product Management approach to continually improve the renewed RTGS service using agile techniques and a customer centric approach that supports innovation a delivers value to our stakeholders. We also continue to deliver innovating changes through our Future Roadmap team who are focussed on large scale changes for new products and services.
Role and responsibilities
This role reports into the RTGS Lead Business Analyst in the Technology Strategy and Architecture division with services provided by the role delivered in the RTGS Technology Domain.
The role will be focused on applying Business Analysis skills to all proposed changes to the RTGS applications. A key aspect of the role is to work withproduct owners project managers business teams and technology teamsto help them define and shape the future roadmap for RTGS over a multi-year horizon. This will also require being clear on where the technology choices are unique to the RTGS agenda and where it should align with the Banks wider architectural direction or controls.
The Business Analyst will work in partnership with the business to help understand analyse and document technology and business operating and change needs and to apply business change expertise to enable the business to achieve their outcomes. The domain is diverse and complex so a variety of skills are required from this role including but not restricted to understanding the business operating model understanding how changes to the operating model will impact organisational business processes managing the requirements lifecycle for data and systems implementations developing strong links between the Payments Directorate and other parts of the business including Technology.
This role requires confidence analytical ability and effective communication skills. You will need to influence managers and colleagues and facilitate the development of technology enabled strategies and investments with the business.
