Non-Destructive Testing Technician
Based in Niagara Falls OntarioCanadian Specialty Castingsis a division of Canadian Babbitt Bearings Ltd. A Russell Industries Company. Through a combination of performance skill and dedication to quality we have become the fastest growing sandcasting foundry in Canada.
Canadian Specialty Castings. manufactures and repairs different forms of castings used in the energy marine and industrial addition CSC manufactures associated industrial products. Understanding and experience of manufacturing with different materials specifications and machining.
Rate of pay: $21 to $25 per hour
Duties
-Interpret design or operational test results. Interpret the results of all methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) such as liquid penetrant magnetic particle ultrasonic vibration analysis and visual testing.
-Interpret design or operational test results.
-Select calibrate or operate equipment used in the non-destructive testing (NDT) of products or materials.
-Select tools equipment or technologies for use in operations or projects.
-Calibrate scientific or technical equipment.
-Operate industrial equipment.
-Identify defects in solid materials using ultrasonic testing techniques.
Test characteristics of materials or structures. Prepare reports on non-destructive testing (NDT) results.
-Conduct liquid penetrant tests to locate surface cracks by coating objects with fluorescent dyes cleaning excess penetrant and applying developer.
-Document non-destructive testing (NDT) methods processes or results.
Visually examine materials structures or components using tools and equipment for signs of corrosion metal fatigue cracks or other flaws.
-Map the presence of imperfections measure physical or chemical properties of materials or objects.
Skills
  • Proficiency with NDT equipment: Using and calibrating specialized tools like ultrasonic radiographic magnetic particle and penetrant testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of NDT methods: Understanding how to perform various tests and selecting the most appropriate method for a given situation.
  • Technical reading: Interpreting complex technical documents including codes standards and specifications.
  • Calibration and maintenance: Ensuring all testing equipment is in proper working order.
  • Computer skills: Using software for data analysis reporting and record-keeping.
Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Analytical thinking: Analyzing test results considering variables like temperature and material thickness and identifying potential issues.
  • Problem-solving: Developing solutions for identified problems and creating new testing techniques when necessary.
  • Data interpretation: Objectively evaluating test data to make informed decisions.

  • Adherence to safety protocols: Strictly following safety regulations to protect oneself and others.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulously following procedures and documentation requirements to ensure accuracy.
  • Quality assurance: Understanding and applying quality control procedures.

  • Documentation and reporting: Creating clear and precise reports based on test findings.
  • Teamwork: Working effectively with other professionals such as engineers and project managers.
  • Communication: Clearly conveying inspection results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
