Job Description:
Aerojet Rocketdyne segment is seeking an experienced Project Engineer forour Orange VA location. The Senior Specialist Project Engineering role will provide technical leadership on the D5 LE2 program.
This role involves leading performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leadership. Undergeneraldirection you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks overseeing special studies and coordinating testing activities. The ideal candidate will coordinate ballistic thermal and structural analyses as well as perform post-test examination analyses and reporting in support of the program technical goals.
The ideal candidate would have experience in design/manufacturing solid rocket propulsion hyper-elastic/phenolic materials propellant chemistry and propellant manufacturing.
Essential Functions:
- Provide imaginative thorough and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques
- Read interpret and write specifications and technical documents
- Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas
- Understand and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process
- Review and approve engineering drawings
- Travel up to 10%
Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering or related discipline and minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of prior related lieu of a degree there is a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is highly preferred
- Integrated Product Team Leadership is desired.
- Energetic design/manufacturing experience is desired.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels
- Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a collaborative dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to maintain attention to detail
- Strong ethical judgment
