About the role
Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora are seeking a dedicated Paediatrician to join our dynamic team at Dunedin Hospital. You will provide expert care to children and adolescents across inpatient outpatient and community settings. This is a permanent position with opportunities for subspecialty development. The role is a full-time position however the department is open to negotiating part-time positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive paediatric care to improve the health of children and adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings including rural and community outreach.
  • Participate in the 1:7 shared on-call roster.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and students.
  • Collaborate with allied health professionals and community services.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

What you need to work here

To practise as a Paediatrician in New Zealand you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

International applicants will need a postgraduate qualification comparable to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP in Paediatrics) or another recognised paediatric qualification.

The ideal applicant will:

  • Hold vocational registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Hold Fellowship of the RACP or equivalent paediatric qualification.
  • Bring medical expertise and experience to an acute tertiary care hospital and contribute to the advanced care of acute paediatric inpatients and a full spectrum of general paediatric outpatients including behavioural and developmental.
  • Have strong communication and skills to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Have a commitment to equity cultural safety and child-centred care.

Salary range
This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between the Step 1 ($185380) and Step 15 ($267980 per annum pro rata)
