Job Summary
The job ofTransportation Assistant is done for the purpose of assisting students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; and ensuring the saftey and sanitation of assigned vehicles.
Essential Functions
- Assesses potential emergency situations on the bus/van and within loading and unloading zones
- Assists students with safe loading and unloading
- Instructs students regarding rules and regulations
- Monitors students (e.g. unruly disruptive abusive language etc.)
- Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher instructional assistant parent etc.
- Prepares documentation (e.g. incident reports/student behavior code passenger misconduct etc.)
- Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline accidents any physical or mental changes pertaining to students inappropriate social behavior etc.)
- Secures students and/or equipment with restraints tie downs (e.g. wheelchairs seat belts operating lift as needed etc.)
- Assists other personnel as needed
Qualifications
- Experience desired
- Pass a criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
- Ability to read write and communicate clearly in English
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
