Were a close-knit group of designers and front-end engineers who work across all business verticals to maintain and advocate for our design system. We care deeply about our design craft and the quality of the components that we produce. We work fast valuing experimentation and iteration. Were not afraid of tackling the complex UX problems and we know that maintaining a system is just as much about evangelization and collaboration as it is about having extremely high standards for the work we produce for the entire technology team to consume and implement into their products. About the role

We are seeking a Senior UI Engineer to evolve and mature the design system for Morgan Stanleys web and mobile platforms. You will work as an advocate for the design system across the design team as well as with business and technology partners. You will be an advocate for best code practices as well as be a collaborator with technology partners to ensure our Design System library continues to be a framework that is easily implemented in projects. You should be familiar with implementing a design system.

What youll do in the role:

  • Build and document new patterns for our established design system.
  • Work closely with our front-end development teams to ensure coding best practices are met - Maintain Design System frameworks - Create functioning prototypes of experiences or components - Contribute beyond the design system itself by helping to build out projects when needed - Establish requirements for new components and component enhancements Technical skills needed.

What youll bring to the role:

  • Proficient knowledge of best practices in JavaScript/HTML/CSS
  • Good understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms such as Sass
  • Experience applying accessibility best practices (WCAG) - Familiarity with the AGILE process Soft skills needed
  • Great eye for visual details
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Pride in the work delivered and tremendous attention to detail

  • Curiosity about problem solving and learning about finance

Salary range for the position: $150000 and $210000 per year. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business units incentive compensation plan which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
