Were looking for an exceptional Founding Engineer & Software Architect to join us at ground zero and shape the architecture systems and engineering culture of a venture-backed legaltech startup. This is not a plug-and-play role youll be writing the blueprint setting the standard and building the foundation of a product and company designed to scale.
Youll collaborate directly with the co-founders owning end-to-end system design and full-stack implementation while influencing product direction and recruiting top engineering talent. If youre looking to leapHead of Engineering or future CTO this is your platform.
What Youll Do:
Architect our platform from the ground up define systems infrastructure and integrations that power core features and scale with us
Lead backend and infrastructure design using modern cloud-native tooling (GCP containerization CI/CD observability)
Drive full-stack feature delivery working closely with domain experts and founders to build ship and iterate fast
Mentor and manage junior and mid-level engineers as we grow; implement engineering best practices and clean design patterns
Make key technical decisions around performance security and reliability in a data-sensitive environment
Recruit and build a high-caliber engineering team known for shipping excellence and product obsession
Define and shape culture balancing velocity with thoughtful architecture in a high-ownership low-ego team
You Might Be a Fit If You:
Have 510 years of software engineering experience including leading architecture or platform decisions at a successful VC-backed startup
Have deep fluency with JavaScript/TypeScript React and distributed systems
Have designed high-scale production-grade infrastructure on GCP (or AWS/Azure) and are comfortable owning DevOps pipelines
Thrive in zero-to-one environments: youre energized by ambiguity and love turning ideas into reality fast
Are a clear communicator able to influence product prioritize trade-offs and bridge technical and non-technical minds
Care deeply about code quality developer experience and long-term technical vision
Bonus Points For:
A degree in CS or EE from a top-tier university (Stanford MIT CMU Berkeley etc.)
Prior experience at a hypergrowth startup or as a first or second engineering hire
Passion for transforming legacy industries or experience with legaltech fintech or regulated sectors
