Senior Maintenance Supervisor

Covington GA

Essential Responsibility:

The responsibilities of Senior Maintenance Supervisor are to lead and assist maintenance teams with daily work orders and projects. This role will serve as an anchor for both night shifts focusing on leadership training and technical support of their maintenance teams. This individual is expected to create a positive and supportive culture that leads to their teams desire for being successful and producing quality work. The Senior Supervisor will also be responsible for managing activity of the maintenance staff and evaluation of performance and assist with setting staff role assignments training and development needs.

Key Tasks:

  • Manage maintenance functions by reviewing work orders and determine priorities; scheduling repairs and maintenance ensuring the accuracy of work performed by subordinate staff; ensuring all repairs are made in a timely and safe manner.
  • Promotes and assist staff development through OJT training. Promotes Kaizen principles of continuous improvement through the steady skill up of team members troubleshooting and technical knowledge/ability.
  • Overseeing the replacement of defective parts with new parts; by directing the repair or reproduction of parts and machines; monitors assembly and testing the operation of machines to verify the malfunction has been corrected; and by ensuring preventative maintenance of all machines and Company facilities is completed according to the schedule.
  • Leads maintenance functions in accordance with company policies; by interpreting and enforcing company policies and procedures and answering related questions for Staff.
  • Keeps Senior Management informed by participating in meetings when possible; by reporting problems to Senior Management verbally or in written form in order to avoid confusion and further problems.
  • Supervises Staff by providing direction and delegating responsibilities to subordinate staff. This is done through evaluation of work performed by subordinate staff by training and and following up with performance coachings and evaluations.
  • Contributes to the Team Effort by being flexible in work assignments; by covering for other Staff as needed; and by accomplishing related tasks when requested.
  • Acts on Constructive Feedback by being open to feedback from peers and superiors; then using the feedback to improve performance.
  • Upholds Work Standards by maintaining professional conduct and appearance; by realizing ones own limitations and seeking assistance when needed; and by using established channels communication.
  • Researches Best Practices applicable to industry standards ISO and TS standards and regulatory standards and implements them accordingly into the departments daily operations.

Required Skills and Knowledge: Maintenance Skills

Maintenance Skills

  • Expert level knowledge of maintenance technology (robotics pneumatics electrical systems and controls hydraulics mechanical systems)
  • Expert level of knowledge of mechanical principles and procedures (For example correct installing procedure of bearings)
  • Knows basic operations and techniques in a machine shop when using a vertical mill Lathe and mig tig or stick welding.
  • Understands ladder logic and can make program modifications to PLC. High level Leadership and communication skills.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills

  • Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry-out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to analyze and use various documents (contracts purchase orders etc.).

Computer Skills

  • Ability to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint and be able to design custom reports as necessary.

Other Skills

  • Must be tactful mature flexible and able to successfully respond to multiple work pressures.
  • Must have leadership skills and experience.

Education / Certifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisor and/or management experience in addition to a minimum of 5 years of related experience in an industrial maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand sit or walk in office or field duties.
  • A full range of motion to see hear touch and to observe documents at the office or materials on the field.
  • Ordinary vision and hearing for communication and observation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
