Summary

Dome Productions is looking for an Operations Supervisor for its Broadcast Centre at 130 Merton Street. The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled technicians and take ownership of the operations in our Production Suites Studios and Network Operations Centre.

The successful applicant will come with media production background as well as experience leading teams in a fast-paced network environment.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Supervise daily operations across the Production Suites Studio and Network Operations Centre
  • Work closely with multiple teams like but not limited to production scheduling engineering and operations to understand and deliver on the business requirements for Dome Productions and Digital Services
  • Develop efficiencies in personnel development facilities and staffing requirements for operations
  • Act as first point of escalation for any technical and staffing issues in the Broadcast Centre

People Management

  • Lead and support cross-functional teams of technicians and operators
  • Coach mentor and train operations staff including new employees
  • Evaluate team performance and provide feedback to operators
  • Map out and execute training plans for various roles related to production operations and transmission

Production Operations

  • Responsible for the technical and operational planning execution and support of all productions at the Broadcast Centre (both traditional and remote-production models)
  • Coordinate with staff and freelancers to ensure suites/control rooms and studio are set up to deliver to production requirements and suggest changes to facilities crew etc if needed
  • Oversee preparation of Technical Requirements documentation for all productions including REMI productions involving trucks/kits at the Broadcast
  • Centre and ensure all information is current and accurate
  • Be the champion for the technical quality of the production and troubleshoot as needed.


Key Responsibilities

Network Operations

  • Manage escalations with upstream providers and internal support groups for timely fault resolutions
  • Investigate and resolve any problems with signal delivery to end users
  • Review daily performance monitoring of network traffic system performance and communicate status updates
  • Provide logistical support for encoding/decoding and web streaming equipment
  • Review transmission work orders for accuracy ensuring the necessary facilities and capacity are available

Documentation and Process Improvements

  • Ensure protocols policies and workflows are adhered to by operators/technicians
  • Track service requests outages and production KPIs
  • Ensure training materials SOPs and system documentation are up to date
  • May be asked to supervise the testing implementation installation and integration of new equipment and workflows

Critical Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of live broadcast production workflows.
  • Experience of working with but not limited to switchers/audio consoles/instant replay machines
  • Experience working on projects using the REMI Production model
  • Supervisory experience in broadcast and/or network operations.
  • Knowledge of IP-based transmission and streaming protocols (SRT Zixi RIST etc.).
  • Familiarity with video/audio encoding compression standards and satellite uplink/downlink workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Required to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Understanding of major league sports schedules and broadcast requirements.

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
