Job Description:

Role Teaser Division Description Team Description
Network Applications and Observability (NAO) team is responsible for design implementation deployment operations and product life-cycle management of cross-platform enterprise critical systems (performance management fault management configuration management and discovered inventory) comprising of in-house built and commercial vendor systems.
Network Observability is a group within the Network Engineering organization that is responsible for building the systems that monitor the health of the global networks at Goldman Sachs. We implement the systems and software responsible for network monitoring logging and alerting on a global scale. We look for engineers that are motivated in exploring how to monitor our network utilizing a variety of tooling and building upon the software we use to control them. Functioning as part of a global team you will have the opportunity to be involved in requirements gathering design architecture implementation and support for solutions within Network Engineering. You will be comfortable communicating with a range of technical teams across a geographically diverse environment.


HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
* Work closely with the network resolution and engineering teams to better understand the network and resolve noisy inefficient alarms while driving focused alert signaling.
* Streamline the network monitoring pipeline through automation to programmatically control the network monitoring systems.
* Develop tools and services to automate the mitigation and remediation of network-specific events.
* Participate in system design consulting platform management and capacity planning.
* Drive vendor engagements where applicable.
* Product management by designing and deploying network monitoring solutions.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding and / or systems engineering.
* Proficiency in one or more of the following: Go Python Perl or shell scripting.
* Prior experience in a Network Engineering or Administration role with hands on experience working with network protocols such as BGP OSPF etc.
* Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems and databases.
* Experience using CI/CD to manage project SDLC.
* Administration experience in one or more of the following products: SevOne VMware Smarts Splunk and MicroFocus Network Automation (HPNA)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Coding simple scripts in Go Python Perl and/or shell scripting.
* Hands-on experience with debugging code.
* Experience with distributed systems design maintenance and troubleshooting.
* Experience designing software for network automation.
* Strong communication skills drive and ownership.
* Agile development experience.
* Familiarity with one or more network management tools: NSO Forward Networks
* Familiarity with Prometheus Grafana
