Admission Counselor, School of Nursing

Pepperdine Universitys College of Health Science (PCHS) is seeking an Admission Counselor for the School of Nursing (SON). The counselor will primarily support the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and also the Entry Level Masters (ELM) Clinical Nurse Leader degree program. The counselor will join a vibrant enrollment management team and contribute significantly to recruitment and admissions efforts for these new degree offerings.

The counselor position provides a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to two signature programs by recruiting and engaging prospective students and families supporting admission events conducting academic advising for prospective students managing admission records and participating in shaping recruitment and enrollment strategy.

As an employee of the PCHS and working closely with the PCHS Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and the Seaver College Enrollment Management team the counselor will help plan and execute the full admissions cycle from outreach and application review to events and data management utilizing Slate and other systems. Were seeking an articulate mission-driven relational professional who combines data-informed recruitment with personal guidanceand who aligns with Pepperdines Christian values and commitment to preparing healthcare leaders of purpose service and integrity.

Duties

• The SON admission counselor will focus primarily on and support all aspects of the admission process for the BSN program by assisting in recruiting undergraduate BSN students both 4-year and 2-year (transfer) pathway -located on the Malibu and Calabasas campuses the counselor will work collaboratively under the guidance of both the Seaver College and PCHS Enrollment Management teams typically spending 3 days on the Malibu campus and 2 days on the Calabasas campus weekly adjusting based on program Admission Counselor will be engaged in application review and initial decision-making for the BSN program in coordination with Seaver Enrollment Management colleagues and will serve as a liaison with the School of Nursing Admissions Committee. The counselor is the primary point of contact and provides comprehensive support for all BSN admission prospects both 4-year and 2-year pathway their recruiting role for the BSN program the counselor will:
  • Recruit BSN high school and transfer college students to apply for undergraduate admission to Pepperdine.
  • Read and recommend admission decisions on BSN 2-year applications during the fall and spring admission seasons.
  • Correspond with prospective BSN applicants and their families concerning admission to Pepperdine student life spiritual life and academics.
  • Plan and support events including: BSN prospective webinars Malibu campus events Admitted Waves Day Pepperdine Previews Admitted Student Receptions etc.
  • Participate in recruitment fairs and similar events at local community colleges and healthcare locations.
• The counselor will also perform academic advising duties as well as develop and maintain academic records for the BSN program. These responsibilities include:
  • Conducting academic preadvising for the BSN 2-year pathway undergraduate students.
  • Assisting with advising prospective undergraduate BSN transfer students.
  • Calculating science GPAs for BSN 4-year pathway applicants. Completing Degree Audit Report (DAR) processes for admitted BSN students.
• The SON admission counselor will also support the PCHS enrollment management team in the admission process for the their role for the ELM graduate nursing program the counselor will:
  • Conduct academic preadvising for prospective ELM graduate students.
  • Complete Degree Audit Report (DAR) processes for admitted ELM students.
  • Assist PCHS Enrollment Management personnel with recruitment and admission processes.
  • Support events including: ELM prospective webinars Calabasas campus events etc.
  • Participate in recruitment fairs and similar events at local community colleges and healthcare locations.
• Other duties as assigned including but not limited to:
  • Collaborate with IMC to review marketing materials and make suggestions for recruitment promotional materials.
  • Research other schools of nursing for best practices conferences and other opportunities for recruitment.
  • Attend both PCHS and Seaver College admission and enrollment staff meetings.
  • Create and provide reports to the PCHS Enrollment Management team as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors degree.
• 1 year of professional work experience in higher education is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Gmail Docs Sheets Slides Calendar).
• Excellent written oral interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
• Strong ability to plan prioritize and organize short and long-term tasks.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Preferred:

• 3 years of higher education admissions experience.
• Knowledge of Slate and PeopleSoft Student System.

This is a Regular Nonexempt 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $25.31 - $28.12 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience market conditions education/training and skill addition to base pay Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitivebenefits package.
