The Director of Planning and Procurement will orchestrate all activities needed to ensure their regions production facilities have the right amount of material inputs and inventory at all times for continuous and seamless production. Responsibilities will range from managing the high-level procurement and workforce strategy to day-to-day operational management. This person is responsible for managing a dispersed team and coordinating buying across multiple sites for our e-commerce and ready to heat businesses.
Detailed Responsibilities
Manages performance of regional buying teams:
- Manages team of dispersed employees In coordination with Plant Directors Senior Director of Fulfillment and Category Management team makes high-level decisions on the regional food and packaging procurement strategy
- Ensures adherence to procurement best-practices
- Partners with individuals in Procurement and Food Safety based in the corporate office to manage existing third-party suppliers and onboard new suppliers
Project Management and Continuous Improvement
- Creates the necessary routine and structure for successfully managing a regional and remote team
- Revises job aids and SOPs as needed to enable a seamless transition to regional structure end to end structure
- Partners with Ops Ex Corporate Supply Chain Plant Lead Teams and Culinary to drive process improvements to tools processes and touchpoints
- Reviews best in class processes across the network and drives adoption and standardization through the region
- Review top issues (high spend errors shorts) and create plans to mitigate risk in future menus
Responsible for Procurement KPIs:
- Calculates the cost impact of using pre-portioned ingredients versus portioning from bulk while balancing labor impact and cost
- Partners with Operations Managers and plant directors to plan utilization of all automation to assess the labor cost of portioning from bulk
- Makes recommendations to the plant director of most cost effective plan and tracks the actual cost impact of the decision made
- Works with Planner Plant Director FSQA and Operations Manager to ensure a balance of shelf life and labor smoothing are reached on a weekly basis
- Monitor errors related to food and conduct RCAs with suppliers and corporate if necessary
- Take an active role in minimizing food waste by partnering with warehouse and inventory team to manage proper FEFO as well as PE and Culinary to add aging items to upcoming menus
- Understands key variance driving food cost target misses and works to eliminate
Attitude and Attendance
- This position requires 30-40% time on site.
- Must be willing to travel up to 30%

- Completion of a four-year degree program
- Minimum of 5 years of successful managerial leadership experience in a fast-paced environment and a track record of leading by example
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in production/operational environments or working directly with those in a production/operational environment
- Minimum of 5 years of experience procuring materials in a manufacturing environment and working with third-party suppliers as a client
- Interpersonal skills to work with team members across functions and in both production and corporate environments
- Analytical proficiency to lead complex workforce and production planning to meet variable needs of the business
- Ability to think outside-the-box when identifying and recommending procurement workforce and labor planning and attendance and scheduling improvements
- Ability to react on the fly to unforeseen procurement and workforce planning scenarios as they arise
