Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a Criminal Analyst in the SCDCs Office of Inspector General
- Performs intelligence/technical analysis and raw analysis from all sources to determine criminal activities.
- Field and handle requests from federal state and local jurisdictions to determine criminal activities and provide timely collection and dissemination of information.
- Create reports and/or databases for the purpose of intelligence gathering and sharing needs of the division.
- Operates in a fast-paced team-oriented environment using a variety of databases.
- Works independently or as part of a team or task force to gather and review information related to specific criminal or administrative investigations to include but not limited to social media and security threat groups.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Job Responsibilities1. Analysis of various resources such as databases phone records financial records and digital files. Works independently or as part of a team or task force gathers information related to specific criminal or administrative investigations and disseminates the information in an effective and efficient manner. Provides research analysis and technical support as directed by immediate supervisor. This may include site visits to correctional institutions or other locations deemed necessary.
2. Collects analyzes and presents synthesized findings as graphs charts key-points or any format as directed by immediate supervisor. Prepares and maintains correspondence suspense files and reports as directed. Must be able to effectively communicate with subordinates peers supervisors and others both verbally and in writing.
3. Reviews and documents all intelligence pertaining to inmates and staff from sources within and outside SCDC. Responsible for the exploitation and analysis of various technical platforms and digital devices as directed by the Division of Intelligence & Forensic Analysis.
4. Willingly performs duties as the on-call criminalist for the assigned week or representative for the Division of Intelligence and Forensic Analysis during an emergency must be prepared to report for duty anytime during the on-call week for urgent matters.
5. Willingly performs other assigned duties with professionalism and due diligence in a timely manner.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience as a criminalist.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
OR
OR
Comparable tasks include forensic extractions data analysis research methods theory and/or statistics.
Additional Comments
This position requires travel among assigned facilities/locations within the state. Some overnight travel for emergency situations or to attend training may be required.
