IT SPECIALIST
VANCE ALABAMA TUSCALOOSA PLANT
As a member of the IT team the IT Specialist will be responsible forproviding direct technical support to others using computer equipment for office applications including desktop configurations performing hardware and software installation and maintenance of existing spreadsheets and other programs to best meet the needs of the end user.
The Role:
Your work will include but not be limited to:
- Responds to employee questions in person and via phone on all company supported applications
- Determines source of computer problems (hardware software user access etc.)
- Serves as liaison between staff and the technology department to resolve issues
- Manages backup security and user help systems
- Consults with users to assess computing needs and system requirements
- Plans coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage modification or disclosure
- Installs and tests of new products and improvements to computer systems
- Trains users and answer questions
- Provides staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems such as malfunctions and program problems
- Determines computer software or hardware needed to set up or alter system
- Diagnoses hardware and software problems and replaces defective components
- Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations
- Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware systems software applications software and all configurations
- Plans coordinates and implements network security measures in order to protect data software and hardware
- Provides server support and maintenance; uses various utilities to administer users printers and services
- Maintains various records and documentation for department computer systems

Your Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Information Systems or any related field
- Minimum of 2 years of related IT experience
- Knowledge of the functions and operations of computers commercial computer software and of local area networks (LANs) including hardware/software installation
- Knowledge of a variety of hardware operating systems and related software used by all departments
- Knowledge of Microsoft Sever 2019 in the Active Directory environment
- In-depth knowledge of operating systems such as Window 10 & 11 AS/400
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Knowledge of cabling network hardware and configuration
- Knowledge of office equipment to include printers copiers and fax machines
- Ability to analyze and resolve user needs and problems
- Ability to communicate on technical issues with individuals with varying degrees of computer familiarity
- Ability to instruct others in the use of computerized information systems and software
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments
- Physical Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp manipulate or assemble very small objects
- Physical Ability to frequently stoop bend kneel crouch crawl climb reach twist grasp and make repetitive hand movements
- Physical Ability to lift carry push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight approximately 50 lbs
- Physical Ability to walk long distances and be on your feet for long periods of time
- Physical Ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard
- Must be willing to work extended periods of time or varying shift hours including some weekends
- Must be willing to work evening / nightshift
- Should have A certification or better
Bonus If You Have:
- Bachelors degree in a related field
- Previous experience working in an automotive assembly plant
