Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity

The Department is seeking to appoint full-time Lecturers (i.e. tenure-track Assistant Professor) Senior Lecturers or Associate Professors specialising in international trade international macroeconomics financial economics and energy economics. The department particularly welcome scholars researching AI and the macroeconomy fintech trade policy international monetary problems and electricity markets using theoretical and/or empirical approaches. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong research potential as well as a commitment to excellent research- informed teaching that is enhanced by appropriate learning technologies. Continuation (tenure) is based on performance in research teaching and service.

The successful appointee will have a PhD (or be near completion) with demonstrated excellence in research and a commitment to high quality research-informed teaching.

You will have a research program that complements and builds upon existing areas of strength within the Department. These areas include but are not limited to:

• International Trade
• International Finance
• Open Economy Macroeconomics
• Financial Economics
• Artificial Intelligence and the Macroeconomy
• Fintech
• Energy Economics

You will be a highly effective teacher of both undergraduate and graduate students. The appointee will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in their specialist area at introductory levels more widely and to engage in research and publication both personally and through the supervision of research students.

You will also be expected to seek research funding to engage with the profession and academic and non-academic stakeholders and to contribute to departmental service. Flexibility in teaching and research collaboration within and beyond the Department are essential.
