Position Specific Summary:
Coordinate compliance with state educator preparation standards across programs of the College of Education and University of Iowa partner departments. Manage curricular change and approval processes on behalf of Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Educator Preparation; assure accuracy and compliance of public-facing information. Advise administrators faculty and staff on interpretation and maintenance of undergraduate academic policies and educator preparation standards; assist Associate Dean with appeals and atypical cases.
Specific Job Duties and Tasks
- Liaise with Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and other educator licensing/certification authorities Iowa Department of Education College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and programs of the educator preparation Unit outside the College of Education. Monitor decisions or attend meetings of the Board of Educational Examiners and State Board of Education.
- Liaise with the Registrars Office on tracking and monitoring accurate program representation in the student records system for consistency and effective functioning.
- Provide administrative supervision and oversight of licensure review and routine reporting.
- Oversee reporting on licensure and endorsement recommendations and educator preparation consistent with state and federal standards (HEA Title II; Iowa Department of Education annual report).
- Advise administrators faculty and staff on interpretation and maintenance of undergraduate academic policies and educator preparation standards. Identify needed policies; draft new policies.
- Respond to requests from faculty and staff about compliance issues policy issues and progress in program for students.
- May provide administrative supervision of staff and student employees.

Education or Equivalency Required
- Bachelors degree in education or related field or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Typical minimum experience is 3 years.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in academic program management compliance or accreditation processespreferably in educator preparation or licensure.
- Experience interpreting and applying academic policies and standards.
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize policy information and communicate it effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in managing academic records and systems (e.g. student information systems catalog updates).
- Advanced knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite- Word Excel Outlook.
- Extensive interpersonal skills to develop and enhance professional relationships with COE faculty students IDOE representatives staff and other internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with K12 educator licensure requirements. Experience working with educator preparation standards. Typical experience is 3 5 years.
- Masters degree in education Higher Education Administration Educational Policy or a closely related field.
- Familiarity of higher education policies preferably in an institution that provides teacher education training.
- Experience drafting and implementing academic policies.
