About the Role
The SandboxAQ Cybersecurity group is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to build the core data collection and integration fabric of our platform. This isnt just an SDK role; you will be responsible for designing building and maintaining the critical first-party sensors that our customers deploy in their most sensitive environments.
Youll be working at a low level writing high-performance Rust code for passive network analyzers filesystem scanners and dynamic & static application tracers. You will also contribute to our third-party integration framework pulling data at scale from the entire enterprise security ecosystem.
This is a high-impact role with a direct line to solving our most critical customer challenges. We need a pragmatic and systems-oriented engineer who can own problems end-to-end from design and estimation to implementation and mentorship.
What Youll Do
- Design implement and maintain our suite of 1P sensors in Rust focusing on performance stability and security.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of our 3P integration framework solving challenges related to rate limiting data ingestion at scale and state management.
- Contribute to our SDK to enable seamless integration for partners and customers.
- Own new features end-to-end collaborating with Product Managers and TPMs to refine requirements estimate work and deliver robust solutions.
- Help mentor one of our junior engineers providing technical guidance and leveling up the teams Rust expertise.
- Contribute to our teams culture of ownership accountability and diligence.
Who You Are
- 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of shipping complex scalable systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in Rust for systems-level programming.
- Deep understanding of low-level OS/system and networking concepts (e.g. filesystems network protocols system calls).
- Proven ability to design and implement systems that handle data processing at scale.
- You are skilled at translating complex customer needs into technical requirements and are comfortable working with external stakeholders to solve their challenges.
- You know how to balance delivering high-quality production-ready code quickly with long-term maintainability.
- You thrive in a distributed multicultural team and can articulate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice-to-Haves
- Optional experience with Java/Kotlin Golang or Python.
- Experience in the cybersecurity domain particularly with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) or antivirus (AV) products.
- Experience with enterprise security APIs (e.g. CrowdStrike Splunk Qualys).
- Familiarity with Kafka KStreams or other streaming data technologies.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $183k-$256k per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills experience and relevant education or training. This role may be eligible for annual discretionary bonuses and equity.
