We are hiring a Basic Grade Medical Scientist into our Hospital in Dublin Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Meet the highest standards for ordinary laboratory scientific work while adhering to the policies procedures and recommendations of the Department.
- Obtain instruction and stay proficient in all pertinent laboratory service areas.
- Encourage coworkers and cooperate with every team member.
- Engage in service creation and enhancement in collaboration with the Chief Medical Scientist Laboratory Manager and Consultant Haematologist.
- Participate as needed in the reagent and other consumables registration custody and stock level.
- Get information on non-conformances complaints and equipment and supply flaws document it look into the situation with the relevant team members take the required corrective action and report it in accordance with protocol.
- Take part in the evaluation of consumables reagents and equipment.
- carry out additional tasks as directed by the Chief Medical Scientist or Laboratory Manager.
- Preserve records tools and inventory.
- Continue to uphold and encourage safe work procedures.
- Communicate with medical professionals and others to keep the service getting better.
- Take part in healthcare workers education and training.
Requirements
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Clinical Measurement Science Respiratory Physiology or an equivalent qualification validated by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM).
- Membership or eligibility for Membership/Fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM).
- Must be registered with CORU or eligible for registration upon completion of studies.
- Demonstrate evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) relevant to the field of Respiratory and/or Sleep Physiology.
- Proven experience working in a respiratory or sleep diagnostics laboratory preferably within an ISO 15189 accredited environment.
- Experience performing and interpreting a broad range of respiratory function and/or sleep studies.
- Working knowledge of Q-Pulse or similar quality management systems.
- Experience using Laboratory Information Systems (e.g. iLab or equivalent).
- Previous involvement in clinical audit research or service development projects.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring junior staff or students.
