The position of Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the accounting and financial reporting of the Company. This position reports to a Senior Financial Reporting Manager as well as collaborating with other members of the accounting staff on a range of matters such as monthly GL close including preparation of schedules journal entries reconciliations SEC reporting regulatory reporting or other assigned projects. This position also ensures compliance with SOX all policies procedures as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.In addition to the above the individual selected for this Sr. Accountant role will play a role in
supporting the companys reconciliations within Oracle ARCS which is used to monitor the completeness and accuracy of all GL reconciliations performed throughout the company. Duties may include administrative tasks project management tasks coordination with and training for users and/or updating status of enhancement efforts.
- Work closely with the Senior Financial Reporting Manager and Director to complete the month-end quarter-end and annual close process.
- Provide support to all assigned areas in the Accounting Department where service orassistance is needed.
- Be involved in the reconciliation process of GL accounts.
- Assist with preparation of financial schedules and analysis that comprise regulatory SEC andinternal reporting.
- Monitor maintain and implement procedures.
- Assist in accounting for complex transactions such as loan sales acquisitions and disposalsand other transactions that require research and analysis.
- Guide and train junior staff as required or assigned.
- Contribute to interpretation and implementation of accounting pronouncement changes.
- Interface with management external auditors and regulatory agencies concerning accountingand SOX requirements.
What youll need:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or business is required.
- Five (5) years accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility preferably within a financial services firm is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years public accounting experience is preferred.
- CPA license (or CPA path) is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP is required.
- Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical and organization skills.
- Effectively interact with all levels within the Company and subsidiaries.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardizedsituations.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Access.
