KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Be part of a forward-thinking team where your work will have a lasting impact! Reporting to the Manager Planning and Environment the Planner Is primary role includes:

  • Responding to public inquiries on zoning and land use.
  • Assisting with application submission and review.
  • Making decisions on development permits.
  • Reviewing and preparing recommendations for incentive applications
  • Assisting with planning projects.
  • Investigating zoning compliance and site inspections
  • Tracking planning application data
  • Updating department website content
  • Communicating and collaborating with external agencies and consultants

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role the Planner I requires a university degree in urban and regional planning or a related field and knowledge of Municipal and Territorial legislation relating to planning and development. A valid NWT Class 5 Drivers license is also required. The candidate should be eligible for membership with CIP and APPI and may be working toward completing their RPP designation.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users is required.

SALARY

The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $86829.74 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totalling $450 and a defined benefit pension plan.
