Job Summary

The College of Business IT Student Technician provides technical assistance to the faculty staff students and visitors. This includes communication through phone email chat and in-person methods.

It is important to possess the skills necessary to identify and solve technical issues while keeping accurate documentation through our IT ticketing/helpdesk system. The technician needs to have excellent communication skills and offer good customer service to both technical and non-technical members of the College.

Our support team provides user-friendly assistance covering various areas such as applications connectivity printing classroom and lab technology and more. We troubleshoot and provide hardware support for desktops laptops and other devices including updates/patches approved security configurations applications and more. You will create documentation of inventory records for assets including hardware software licenses checkout/loaner equipment and others.

Our video conferencing support is tailored to assist faculty staff and students in a live classroom/conference environment.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Regular attendance is a requirement and expectation of the position.

Pay Rate

$16.00/hour

Required Qualifications

1. Must be available to work this upcoming summer break and work a minimum of 15 hours per week up to 24 hours a week
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills
3. Ability to quickly learn new skills
4. Strong attention to detail
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks
6. Ability to provide great customer service
7. Ability to create insightful and concise documentation
8. Ability to use a computer in day-to-day work for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

1. Strong research skills
2. Strong organizational skills
3. Experience or interest in any of the following:
a. Microsoft Windows 11 & Mac OS
b. Basic computer troubleshooting
c. Basic understanding of computer hardware
d. Microsoft Office Suite
4. Willing to work 3 consecutive semesters or more

Work Hours

Between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
-Lift objects of 50 lbs. to waist height (on rare occasions) while moving and replacing computer equipment and peripherals
-Repeatedly push and or pull items of 50 to 100 pounds such as paper boxes printers UPS batteries etc.
-Squat and crawl under objects such as desks
-Effectively communicate on a daily basis
