KPNX 12News the NBC affiliate in Phoenix is seeking a dynamic and driven Education Solutions Reporter MSJ to join our award-winning newsroom. Through this role were expanding our coverage of Arizonas education landscape to focus exclusively on education solutions the programs people and innovations improving learning across the state. This reporter will explore how Arizonas schools educators communities and partners are finding creative answers to challenges in education. Your work will help shape the statewide conversation about education by highlighting where progress is being made and what solutions are driving it. This is a grant-funded two-year position with the possibility of extension based on future funding and performance.
Responsibilities:
Report exclusively on education solutions across Arizona focusing on real programs efforts and innovations that strengthen education opportunities for all agesrural and urban alike.
Produce stories across digital social and broadcast platforms with flexibility for long-form enterprise and investigative reporting when applicable.
Develop strong relationships with educators administrators policymakers and community partners to uncover underreported stories about education improvement and innovation.
Collaborate with editors producers and digital team to create engaging and impactful storytelling that resonates with the audience.
Participate in at least three educational collaborations or events per year such as symposium site visit or other gatherings hosted by the Education Solutions Journalism Grant Program.
Maintain editorial independence while adhering to the grants focus on coverage of education solutions rather than political or unrelated topics
Requirements:
3-5 years reporting experience preferred.
Must possess solid newsjudgment display strong communication skills creativity andethical decision-making skills.
Must be able to shoot and edit video
ENPS EDIUS and Axis graphics experience is preferred.
Must be organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines.
Proven social and digital content creation ability.
Current drivers license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations is required.
