JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Filippelli Institute for e-Education and Outreach of the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking applicants for part-time job of: Accessibility Assistant for Philosophy Courses.
We are seeking a part-time assistant to support our instructional design team in making our online Philosophy course content accessible to all students. This role involves reviewing lesson content (images videos documents PDFs websites) and making them accessible per the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines. Candidates must have completed 300- and 400-level Philosophy courses to ensure subject knowledge and accuracy in the remediations.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in training and develop knowledge of how to create accessible courses materials.
- Review course content and create rich text descriptions for images and enhanced transcripts for videos to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
- Assist in remediating Word and PDF documents.
- Assist in checking external websites and readings for accessibility.
- Collaborate with instructional designers to maintain a consistent approach to accessibility across Philosophy content.
Qualifications:
- Completion of 300-level and 400-level Philosophy courses (required) to ensure a strong understanding of concepts in higher-level courses.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.
- Interest in accessibility educational technology and inclusive educational practices.
- Ability to work independently follow detailed guidelines and meet deadlines.
